Configuring External Notifications

Overview

If you have a Partner (MSP) account, you can set up the external notifications channel for specific event types to get near real-time events from DefensX.

There are 4 external notifications methods available:

  • Sending notifications through e-mail

  • Sending notifications to a Microsoft Teams channel via webhooks

  • Sending notifications to a Slack channel via webhooks

  • Calling an API on your side (requires integration)

Taking quick actions by notifications

Some notifications (User Request) can be thought of as a service ticket. For example, if the customer has a strict policy and the user can not access a webpage, they can send a user request describing the website and the reason why they need to access it. A quick action link was also sent for this type of notification event that allows adding the URL in a Custom URL Group without logging in DefensX Backend, switching to the customer account, and finding the request.

To be able to use external notifications:

  • Go to the Partner Dashboard and click on the External Notifications

  • Select the notification type that you want to add

  • Use built-in documentation that guides you while creating the configuration

  • Select events that you wanted to be notified

  • Select all customers or a specific set of customer(s) for that notification method

Using multiple notifications

If you selected All Customers while configuring the notification, you’ll get notifications from all of the customers under your Partner tree.

But, if you have some customers having an internal IT team and want to receive notifications, you need to create a separate notification for that customer and select the customer name when configuring the notification.
