Overview

Configuring the Slack channel notifications consist of the following steps:

  • Open Slack application and create a webhook endpoint URL for the channel

  • Use that webhook URL while creating a Slack Notification in DefensX

  • Select the event types that you want to be notified

  • Select All Customers or a set of customers related to this notification

Creating a webhook for a channel

You can create a new Slack channel or use an existing channel for DefensX notifications.

While you’re inside a channel in Slack, open the channel management menu and click on the Integrations tab and after that, click on the Add an App button like below:

slack1

On the next screen, enter Incoming Webhooks into the search bar and click on the Install button right next of the Incoming WebHooks application:

slack2

Then, select the channel name again and click on the Add Incoming WebHooks Integration button:

slack3

Now, you have completed the webhook creation for your channel. You need to copy Webhook URL marked as red like the screenshot below and use that URL to configure DefensX Slack notification:

Testing

After configuring the Slack notification channel, you can click on the three dots icon under the Actions section of the list of notifications and click on the Send Test Message link. In this way, you can test the Slack integration channel before getting the real events from the system.
