  • Install DefensX Expansion

DefensX has Install and Uninstall scripts for MSPs to deploy the DefensX Agent using ConnectWise Automate. These scripts allow MSPs to import, set up deployment key and system variables and install the client.

Install DefensX Expansion

You can install the DefensX scripts with 3 easy steps:

  • Download the DefensX Agent Scripts for Automate.xml script expansion file from here.

  • Open the Automate Control Center and go to the following screen: System → General → Import → XML Expansion

  • In the File Browser window, browse the XML file you downloaded and click the "Open" button.

After a successful import, you can access the DefensX scripts via the navigation tree, expand Automation → Scripts → Software → DefensX

Installation by customizing the script variables

Before using the installer script, you have to change the deployment_key variable at least. To do this, you can double-click the DefensX Agent Installer script and select the Globals and Parameters tab. You can change the following variables in this window:

  • deployment_key: This should be the key copied from under the Policies & Groups page in the DefensX backend.

  • disable_uninstall: When it is set to 1, DefensX Agent can not be uninstalled via the Add or Remove Programs menu.

  • system_component: When it is set to 1, DefensX Agent will not be listed in the Add or Remove Programs menu.

Tip
You can duplicate the script for different deployments and change the deployment_key variable in each one of them respectively.

Uninstallation

You can uninstall the DefensX Agent by using DefensX Agent Uninstaller script. It is not needed to change anything on the uninstallation script, so you can use the same script for all of your deployments.
