Policy Group Templates

In this document
  • Creating a Policy Group Template
  • Configuring the Template
  • Deploying to Customers
  • Reviewing Template Customers
  • Summary

Policy Group Templates let you define one set of policy rules and apply it across multiple customers from the partner console. You build the template once, select the customers that should receive it, and deploy.

glop10

Creating a Policy Group Template

Navigate to Global Tools → Policy Group Templates and click New Policy Group Template.

glop1

Enter a Policy Group Template Name and, optionally, a Description. Then click Create Policy Group Template.

glop2
Tip
To base a new template on an existing one, open the three-dot menu and select Duplicate.

Configuring the Template

The template appears in the list with no customers assigned. Click the gear icon in the Configure column to open the template’s rules.

glop3

Rules are grouped into the Web Filters, Credentials, File Transfers and ADWare Blocker tabs, and are set the same way as the rules in a customer policy group.

glop4

Deploying to Customers

Open the three-dot menu for the template and select Map customers.

glop5

Select the customers that should receive the template. The Current Template column shows which template each customer is already on.

glop6

Click Deploy, then confirm.

glop7
Important
Deploying locks the customer’s default policy and replaces any customer-specific changes made there. Custom URL Groups are preserved.
glop11

Editing a deployed template turns the Deployed button into Pending changes. Click it to push the update.

Reviewing Template Customers

Once deployed, the Customers column shows how many customers the template covers and Last Deployed records when it was last applied.

glop8

Click the customer count to open the template’s customer list, where the Assigned and Unassigned tabs show which customers are on the template and which are not.

glop9

Summary

A Policy Group Template is built once in the partner console and deployed to any number of customers, replacing their default policy with the rules the template defines.
